The Engagement Shoot: Kim and Mark

I had the great pleasure of doing a shoot for Kim and Mark following their engagement. This was really special as I have known Kim since we were ickle toddlers!

Kim and Mark wanted fun and upbeat photos, so I did my best to capture their vision as well as their personalities and the sweet affection they have for each other. Photo-booth props were at the ready to add that bit of extra fun and flavour to the session!

Omar: Take two

Omar and I joined forces this cool spring to take some portraits and on this occasion, our main spot was Canary Wharf - one of London's most famous financial hub but also a trendy and very convenient location perfect for a photo shoot.

It was great working with Omar again as he is quite the natural in front of the camera and it made my job quite easy! If you didn't see a sample of the photos from the last shoot, click here

Here is a collection from the recent shoot :)

Omar's Urban Transition

It's been a rainy couple of weeks here in Blighty so I thought I'd share a few photos I took in November last year with Omar, a work friend of mine.

These shots were taken in the beautiful Holland Park and the Waterloo Graffiti tunnels which depicts the typicality of London's urban mix.  Omar's change of attires were very fitting for each location transitioning from city chic to urban cool.

If you ever take a trip to the graffiti tunnels, you must brace yourself for the paint fumes! Totally worth visiting though as I reckon this is one of London's hidden finds.  The graffiti arts on display are never the same and there are always one or two that are certain to catch your eye especially.

The Bonitas: Manisha, Tehmina and Cherrelle

I met Manisha, Tehmina and Cherrelle last year and they have become very good friends of mine ever since. They asked me to work on some shots with them so we pinned a date for the summer and away we went in August 2013! Cherrelle is a makeup artist who collaborated with me on this mini project.

London had a fantastic summer last year, the best I can remember for quite a long time. On the day, the weather wasn't so kind to us and it started to rain lightly just after lunch! Luckily I managed to take lots of gorgeous photos beforehand *phew moment*.

A photo of Tehmina featured in my first blog.  You can see more from this shoot on my website!

A little bit about me

So I love to take photos.  Photography is pretty special. I love that in a single snapshot, a glimpse of a treasured moment(s) are preserved in time. That really was the foundation and how my love for photography started.

People inspire me and I am drawn to people's individuality and the endless variation of the human emotion and expression. That's why I love to take portraits.  I also like to dabble with other categories of photography such as travel, nature and street photography.

2013 was a quiet year for me on the photography front because by day I have an office job and throughout last year I was in constant 'study mode', working towards a qualification. Before I forget to mention, I have two strands of passion: one is that of what I do in the day (for privacy reasons, I'm not going to specify); and the other is my absolute love for photography which I do by night (metaphorically speaking).

2013 was a challenging year juggling between work, personal life, studies and of course, squeezing a bit photography in between. I hope to complete my studies soon which is extremely exciting because not only will I be part-qualified in my day job (fingers crossed) but I also hope to focus more on my photography this year. Yay to 2014!

So when did I pick up an SLR?  I owned a Sony DSLR for a few years, but it wasn't until January 2012 that I finally picked it up to make a real start on my photography journey and dive in!

One of my earlier works was from a workshop organised by photographer Karolina Marek. Here is a sample of a couple of photos I took on that crisp winter's day in 2012.

This is Emiliah Rochford, a professional dancer and singer from London.  Emiliah is a natural on camera and was such a joy to work with!  You can catch her on Facebook.

I remember being quite nervous at this workshop as I didn't think I would be able to capture any favourites, but thank goodness I did!  It turned out to be a fun day and a great experience with like-minded photographers to share tips and tricks with.

That's it for now from me, hope you all have a good day :)
